Thanks to the survey conducted by the Office of Strategic Communication on the quality of life perceived by the citizens of the country, Mexico determined in which cities people feel they live better in. MEXLend explains why Merida and Saltillo were the two highest:

Merida, Yucatan

Mérida

With 83.3 points, the “White City” managed to position itself in first place on the index of quality of life. This city has almost 1 million inhabitants and literacy is 97.26% (well above the national average of 92.8%). The Autonomous University of Yucatan is considered one of the 5 best public universities in the country and also has 2 of the most prestigious schools of medicine in Mexico.

There are also more than 10 archaeological sites near the city and, similarly, there are endless haciendas that have been remodeled and converted in hotels, conference centers, restaurants, museums and / or tourism visiting sites.

Saltillo, Coahuila

Saltillo

Saltillo achieved a score of 78.8 points thanks to the good perception that Saltillenses have about their own city. This place, located in the north of the country, has about 700,000 inhabitants and is famous, among other things, for its baseball team, the “Saraperos de Saltillo”, two-time champions of the Mexican League in 2009 and 2010.

Saltillo has several attractions, such as the Alameda Zaragoza, the Government Palace, the Purcell House, Saltillo Cathedral and the Museum of the Desert. It also features an extensive list of universities, museums, parks and industries because, in recent years, several companies have put their manufacturing plants there such as General Motors, Fiat Group, Daimler, etc.
